Green Mountain Power Celebrates 225kW Methane Plant at Westminster Farms Celebration and Open House October 20th

COLCHESTER, VT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/13/2009 -- In addition to producing milk, the 1,200 cows of Westminster Farms' dairy herd will now be providing electricity to about 250 Green Mountain Power (GMP) customers thanks to a 225kW farm methane generation facility that came online this summer at the farm.

A celebration and open house will take place on Tuesday, October 20, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Guest speakers will include Governor Douglas and Green Mountain Power President and Chief Executive Officer Mary Powell at a ceremony that will begin at 10:00 am. The event is free and open to the public.

Headed South on I 91:

Take Exit 5. At the end of the ramp turn left on Westminster St. Follow Westminster St to a Stop sign in 8 tenths of a mile and Turn Right onto US 5 South. Proceed 1.4 Miles and Westminster Farms is located on the right.

Headed North on I 91:

Take Exit 5. At the end of the ramp turn right on Westminster St. Follow Westminster St to a Stop sign in 8 tenths of a mile and Turn Right onto US 5 South. Proceed 1.4 Miles and Westminster Farms is located on the right.
